CAMPLIN PEACOAT BRUSHED COTTON

The classic Camplin Peacoat made by the inventor of Peacoats. Derives after Petty Officer, the P.Coat, invented by Camplin at the end of the 19th century. This jacket is still today a must-have classic in a men´s wardrobe. Super warm, made of water-resistant fabric, it keeps you dry and warm whenever wherever.

The origins of the Peacoat

The term derives from Petty Officer of the Royal Navy: towards the end of the 19th century, there was a strong need to dress these officers with a uniform that was able to distinguish them from seamen and senior officers.
It was the Camplin family who came up with an answer, designing a P. Coat, later to become known as Peacoat, warm and protective to face days on the open sea, but also strong, practical, elegant and unique.

Features and success

The Peacoat is a short sport coat, originally made of blue or black cloth, in reference to its military origins.
The name also refers to the name of the thick woollen fabric (pij) originally used to make it.
This jacket was soon to become very successful also outside the Royal Navy, even reaching the USA, and today is enjoying a second life thanks to a restyling that enhances its features and originality.



Gross Grain

The blue-green grosgrain ribbon used to reinforce the buttonholes, which brings to mind the ribbon used for the Naval General Service Medal awarded to civilians who distinguished themselves in the service of the Royal Navy.


Cordage

The Cordage, a short length of cord used as an extension to close the double-breasted jacket; this was used in colder weather when layers of additional clothing worn under the uniform made it impossible to close the jacket using the buttonhole. In this way, each sailor had his personalized cord for sea voyages.

Germany

We ship freight free with DHL or DPD within Germany from a purchase value of 50,-€. For a small surcharge we also ship express with UPS. You will receive the option during the check-out process before purchase.

 

European Union (including UK and Switzerland)

We ship with DHL or DPD within Europe. The freight costs are between 9,- and 25,-€. For a small surcharge we also ship express with UPS. The exact freight costs for your delivery address and the choice of shipper will be shown to you during the check-out process before purchase. From a purchase value of 300,-€ we ship freight free with DHL or DPD.

We will charge your local VAT on the purchase price. Since we are a German store, we show our prices with our local 19% VAT. In some European countries the VAT is slightly higher, but your purchase price remains the same.

 

Rest of the World

We ship worlwide with DHL, DPD or UPS. The freight costs are between 29,- and 55,-€. For a small surcharge we also ship express with UPS. The exact freight costs for your delivery address and the choice of shipper will be shown to you during the check-out process before purchase. From a purchase value of 500,-€ we ship freight free with DHL or DPD.

If your delivery address is outside of the European Union you are eligible to buy tax-free. During Check Out process, German VAT (19%) will be deducted from your purchase price after you have entered your shipping address.

Customs & Import Duties

International orders shipped outside of the European Union are tax-free but may be subject to duties and value-added taxes in your country. 
Due to new regulations, US citizen does not pay any customs duties if the buying price does not exceed 800USD. For other countries, pls contact your local customs department.

We are not responsible for any extra charges and/or brokerage fees or delays in shipping caused by your local custom authorities. Any freight and customs charges incurred if a shipment cannot be delivered because you refuse it will be charged to you and deducted from your purchase price upon return.
