The Newsboy Cap is a peaked cap which, unlike the slouch cap, does not have a flat, but a balloon-like arched roof. Usually this consists of eight parts, often crowned in the middle with a button or a small pom-pom. In front, as with all peaked caps, is a mostly flexible peak. In English, this cap form is called Newsboy Cap, Eight Piece Cap or Gatsby Cap (derived from the movie The Great Gatsby with Robert Redford)

This cap style was popular among boys and adult working class men in Europe and North America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many photographs from this period show that these caps were worn by newsboys (hence the name).

Coolmax is the brand name for a range of polyester fabrics developed and marketed by The Lycra Company. Coolmax is marketed as "moisture wicking" and "breathable." As a polyester, it is moderately hydrophobic, meaning it absorbs little liquid and dries relatively quickly.
